On your way to the cloud: The Microsoft universal code initiative
Everyone in the IT world is talking about the cloud. And Microsoft is leading the way, with its Universal Code Initiative. Customers who are Universal Code compliant are ideally set up for the cloud, but are still free to run the ERP system in-house (OnPrem). But be careful - you need to take action. What is the universal code initiative?
To put it simply, Microsoft’s goal is to make Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central available in the cloud - and to make it easy and flexible. To clear the way, customers and Microsoft partners such as YAVEON must standardize their solutions. If the source code of products or customizations used in the project is not cloud-ready, additional licensing costs will be incurred in the future. The initiative starts on April 1, 2022.
Who is affected?
All companies that license Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, or perform a license transition or license merge on or after April 1, 2022 will be affected. Microsoft will start technical testing in the first quarter of 2022, and the affected instances will face additional charges from 2023 onwards.

What is the benefit?
Bit by bit, the IT world will move even more in the direction of the cloud. Even though the Universal Code Initiative creates work at first, it gives all customers the freedom to choose the installation form that suits them. This makes the ERP system future-proof, easy to update, and flexible to use.
